In recent polls, a slim majority of Brazilian voters said will choose nostalgia for the “Anos de Chumbo” ( 
far-right wing Jair Bolsonaro ) past over whatever promise the twenty-first century might have held. So they will decide to jump off a cliff in the name of “stability.” There is much proof to infer that a difficult touchdown awaits the Latin America. A skeptic might point out that it will take an accurately operating “stability” to cushion the collision.
But it is not as critical as Brazilians’ shared commitment to liberty, democracy, and the rule of law. Brazil’s prosperity depends on peace and stability, and harmony and balance in Latin America depend, first and foremost, on whether Brazilians will fight for these values.
